YAMAHA's first attempt to revive the voice of a dead singer was realised with Ueki-loid.
New languages were prepared in Spanish, Korean, and Chinese along with the Japanese and English VOCALOID line up. YAMAHA also showed great interest in promoting its well established Japanese VOCALOID producer fanbase while expanding the usage of VOCALOID itself. This particular version had a large amount of early promotion, and there was almost as many new voicebanks revealed as there were in the entire VOCALOID2 range. The release date was set for September 2011, however it was held back on several occasions until it was eventually released on October 21, 2011. VOCALOID3 was formally announced mid-2011 at a special invitation only event. In December 2010, the new engine's existence was brought up again by Wat, who questioned if Hatsune Miku's English voicebank would be V2 or V3. during a screening of Miku no Hi Kanshasai 39's Giving Day.
VOCALOID3 was first mentioned in September 2010 by Crypton Future Media, Inc.
